Heavy Duty Goliath Crane in Bankura

S.K. Engineering Company’s Heavy Duty Goliath Crane is a high‑performance gantry‑type lifting system developed for applications where overhead runway beams are impractical and where large open spaces demand full end‑to‑end crane coverage. The main bridge girders are supported on sturdy portal legs that travel on floor‑mounted rails, allowing the crane to span multiple work zones, truck or rail lanes and storage rows while keeping the roof structure free of crane loads and minimizing additional building steel.

Designed for heavy‑duty service, this crane is ideal for handling steel structures, bridge and plant components, precast segments, shipyard blocks, large machinery and other bulky industrial loads in continuous or near‑continuous operation. It is widely used in fabrication and assembly yards, ports, shipyards, major construction sites, power and process plants and large industrial stockyards where high‑capacity, repetitive lifting is essential.

The Heavy Duty Goliath Crane is typically configured as a double‑girder system with welded box or I‑beam girders and high‑strength legs, delivering excellent stiffness, low deflection and long‑term structural stability under full load. Key parameters such as capacity, span (often in the 10–30 m range), lifting height and travel speeds are engineered to suit the specific project layout, headroom and duty classification required by the user.

Hoisting is carried out by a heavy‑duty electric wire rope crab or hoist unit sized for the specified safe working load, equipped with high‑strength rope, robust multi‑disc or shoe brakes and efficient geared motors for intensive duty cycles. Gantry and cross‑travel motions use motorized wheel assemblies with single, dual or variable‑frequency (VFD) speed control, ensuring soft starts, reduced load sway and accurate positioning at lifting, assembly and loading points.

To guarantee safe, dependable operation, the crane can integrate overload protection, upper and lower hoist limit switches, cross‑travel and long‑travel limit switches, emergency stop circuits and high‑integrity brakes on all motions. Optional features such as rail clamps or storm locks, buffers, anti‑collision systems between cranes, load‑monitoring systems, cabin or radio‑remote controls and audio‑visual warning devices can be provided to comply with stringent plant and project safety standards.

Combining rugged structural design, corrosion‑resistant finishes and maintenance‑friendly access, S.K. Engineering Company’s Heavy Duty Goliath Crane delivers long service life and low cost per ton handled in the most demanding heavy‑lifting environments. Its rail‑mounted portal configuration offers an economical and flexible solution for both new greenfield facilities and brownfield expansions where powerful, reliable material handling is critical.
